OnePlus Unveils Affordable Tablet: Reduced Hardware, Enhanced Battery Life

OnePlus has officially introduced its latest mid-range tablet, known as the OnePlus Pad Go. In contrast to its premium sibling, the OnePlus Pad, this upcoming device prioritizes portability over top-notch performance. It features a slightly smaller 11.35-inch (288.5 mm) display with a 2K resolution of 2,408 x 1,720 pixels, down from the 144Hz refresh rate to 90Hz. However, it retains the same 7:5 aspect ratio, ideal for internet browsing. The OnePlus Pad Go’s display also incorporates eye protection features like Low Blue Light technology to reduce eye strain.

Under the hood, this tablet is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 SoC (system on a chip), 8GB of RAM, and offers storage options up to 256GB, expandable to 1TB. Its camera setup includes two 8MP lenses at the front and rear, both capable of recording 1080p video at 30FPS, with the rear camera featuring electronic image stabilization for clear recordings.

One notable area where the OnePlus Pad Go surpasses its premium counterpart is in battery life. Despite having a smaller 8,000 mAh battery compared to the OnePlus Pad’s 9,510 mAh battery, the Pad Go offers longer usage times. The company claims a maximum “playtime of up to 14 hours of video,” whereas the older tablet peaks at 12 hours. Additionally, it supports fast charging with its 33W SuperVOOC charger.

Some other similarities between the two models include a quad-speaker setup powered by Dolby Atmos for immersive audio and the inclusion of features like Auto Connect for seamless smartphone connectivity and Screen Mirroring for casting content from a mobile device to the tablet.

While the OnePlus Pad Go shows promise, some concerns arise regarding potential compromises. It boasts a 2K display but employs weaker hardware and provides limited customization options. More variety in color choices would have been appreciated, as it is currently available only in Twin Mint Green.

As of the time of writing, the OnePlus Pad Go is available for pre-order in India, starting at 19,999 rupees or approximately $240 USD. It is set to launch in India on October 20. There is no information available about an international release at this time, but updates will be provided if any news surfaces.
